I came to Zambia in 1967 as a diesel mechanic to work for Smith & Youngson in Lusaka. We had 52 Canadian Kenworth Trucks transporting petrol & diesel on the Hell Run.
The Hell Run was a 1,200 mile road, mostly dirt, from Kapiri Mposhi to Dar es Salaam.

Here are some of my stories:-
George and the Hippo
The road train from Mpika and getting fired.
Kanjombe and the baffled tanker
Frogs, dogs and a cat.

Guestbook for Smith & Youngson
keith paterson(non-registered)
My father Jimmy Paterson worked for Smith and Youngson running the Chipata workshops. My father ended up in business with Dick Smith and they move to Botswana. They did employ a few ex S&Y people including Don Turner. Good to see old pictures.
